Dr. Lou Turchetta has been working in schools for over 20 years. He started his career as a special educator and has had a wide variety of roles in many school districts. Roles as diverse as K-2 teacher of students with severe disabilities to teaching advanced placement psychology. Dr. Turchetta is an active, nationally certified school psychologist and Licensed clinical psychologist in Rhode Island. He is also a psychology professor teaching courses at CCRI, URI and RIC graduate and undergraduate programs. Some of the courses he teaches include educational psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, and adolescent psychology. Dr. Turchetta has published on topics such as inclusive practices for students with ASD as well as research-based interventions for anxiety.
As a leader and practitioner in the region, Dr. Turchetta understands local schools and the challenges they face. He also has a network of school psychologists as colleagues who support his mission. Through these professional connections, he is able to recruit and retain outstanding psychologists and match their strengths and preferences with appropriate placements. Dr. Turchetta is always available for consultation and support to districts and his team.
